AC/DC im Fernsehen zu sehen war schon immer eine Seltenheit. Doch auch AC/DC brauchten das Medium gerade in den Hochzeiten MTV’s in den späten 80er Jahren. Ihre Videos strotzten dann immerhin vor Energie und Geist – jedes AC/DC- Video hatte etwas Magisches und Übergroßes, in dem die Funken blitzen.

Mit „Family Jewels“ kommt jetzt endlich die AC/DC- Geschichte auf Video. DVD  beginnt mit ihrer 
bahnbrechenden Performance „Baby please don’t go“ im australischen Fernsehen, über frühe Promo- Clips, 
dem seltenen Auftritt im „The Midnight Special“ aus den 70er Jahren und endet mit einem Auftritt im 
spanischen Fernsehen, nur zehn Tage vor dem Tod Bon Scotts. DVD 2 präsentiert die klassischen Videos 
der 80er und 90er Jahre und enthält – erstmals auf DVD – die Heimstätten- Produktionen „Fly on the Wall“, 
„Who made Who“ und „Clipped“. „Family Jewels“ wird somit in der Tat ein seltener Blick auf eine 
gigantische Band auf kleinem Bildschirm.

Seeing AC/DC on television has always been a rare occurrence. After all, this was the band that tried to “blow up your video” during the height of MTV’s late-80s boom. Television appearances and promotional music videos have always been a necessary evil to this band of no-nonsense rockers. But when they do grace the airwaves it’s like a bolt of lightning – their energy and spirit transforming a typically staged video into something magical and larger-than-life.

Here, for the first time, is the definive history of AC/DC on video. DVD 1 starts with their breakthrough performance of “Baby please don’t go” on Australian television, through early promo clips, their rare turn on ‘70s mainstay The Midnight Special and ends with the Spanish television performance taped just ten days before singer Bon Scott’s death. DVD 2 traces the classic ‘80s and ‘90s videos and includes – for the first time on DVD – the home video titles “Fly on the Wall”, “Who made Who” and “Clipped”. Family Jewels is indeed a rare glimpse of this giant band on the small screen.
